Adam Vosper
Technical Lead
Hi, I’m Adam and I’m a fourth year Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Bath. I am passionate about sport and represent the University in judo, competing at a national and international level. I also enjoy cycling and recently spent a year in industry at Vorteq Sports, developing high performance aerodynamic clothing for professional and elite-level cyclists. This involved over 500 hours of wind tunnel testing, which has already contributed to several UCI World Championship gold medals, putting me in a strong position to build on this experience as part of a new and exciting project developing a human powered vehicle.

Manufacturing and Human Centred Design Lead
I am a fourth-year Integrated Design Engineer at the University of Bath; a keen cyclist and sports enthusiast with a passion for design and home DIY projects. I recently completed a year-long placement at Callen-Lenz where I successfully manufactured, designed and tested a range of UAVs providing me with relevant R&D experience for an experimental open-ended project such as Team Bath Human-Powered.
James Gale
Design Lead
I am a fourth-year Integrated Design Engineering student at the University of Bath with ideation and design being aspects of the course I particularly enjoy. I recently completed a year-long placement at Bühler UK working with optical sorting machines in the mechanical department of R&D. Outside academics, I have a passion for mountain biking with experience of racing as well as working in a bike shop. I am keen to bring my knowledge of bicycles to the team and am hoping for a successful time on the project.

Publicity Manager
I'm a fourth-year student currently working towards my master’s in mechanical engineering, having just completed a 12-monthplacement in the nuclear industry working as an assistant project manager at Hinkley Point C. I was lucky enough to work on the preparation for the Reactor Pressure Vessel installation; one of the key milestones for the project. I worked closely with numerous stakeholders from various contractors and nationalities on technical and commercial challenges. In this project, I am looking forward to seeing the design challenges associated with a fast-moving project where there are few design constraints, and I hope to implement some creative, unique designs and ultimately contribute to a high-performance, sustainable, human-powered vehicle. Outside of work, I enjoy doing anything outdoors, whether that be mountain biking, running, surfing, snowboarding and hopefully an ultramarathon very soon…

Business Manager
I am a fourth-year Manufacturing and Management student at the University of Bath. I recently completed my placement year in Ball Aerosol Packaging, where I managed my assigned inspection area’s everyday operations, assessed and monitored the risks which the quality of the produced aerosol cans faced, and conducted mathematical analysis on product parameter data to find structural improvements in the production processes. Outside of work, I can be found playing Chess, Mario Kart, or anything where my controls are the only inputs on my side of the game!
Maleh Andela
Project Manager
Hi! I’m Maleh, a fourth-year Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Bath. My third year was spent working in the R&D section of Monodraught, an environmental consultant firm who specialise in natural ventilation. I spent my year leading a project where I redesigned the core of one of their roof-mounted ventilation systems, leading to a successful launch in dozens of sites across the world. This experience will hopefully stand me in good stead for this project. In my spare time, I will be found either watching or playing a number of various sports, from football, cricket and tennis, to F1, golf and darts.
Meet The Team
Team Bath Human Powered are the University of Bath’s newest competition team, formed from a group of six 4th year engineering students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering. This exciting project is harnessed by the team's commitment, efficiency and passion for Design and Innovation. We're based in the department of Mechanical Engineering on campus and will be working full time on this project from February to May 2024.

Our Values
Trust and Reliability: Being able to trust colleagues and sponsors is a crucial aspect to any successful team. It allows the space to foster creativity and an efficient workspace that is more likely to produce ahigh-quality result and develop strong relationships between team members.
Freedom of expression without judgement: This allows for innovation. A workspace where people don’t hide ideas due to the prospect of embarrassment can hinder progress.
Honesty and Humility: A team should be able to give honest, constructive feedback on ideas to identify and leverage each other's strengths to achieve a common goal.
Quality: Striving for excellence in every aspect of design, including aesthetics, functionality, and usability. We will prioritize delivering a high-quality product that meets or exceeds target specifications.
Ethical and Sustainable Responsibility: Upholding ethical standards in design by considering the potential impact of products on users, society, and the environment. Design teams should prioritize ethical considerations such as privacy, safety, and sustainability.
Continuous Learning: Committing to ongoing learning and professional development to stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and new technologies. We will encourage curiosity and a growth mindset among team members and bring on new team members regularly.
Agility: Teams should perform flexibility, collaboration, and responsiveness, enabling them to deliver value to customers more efficiently in a fast-paced and open-ended environment.
