Our Sponsors

Silverstone Composites

Silverstone Composites is a carbon fibre composite manufacturer for applications ranging from tailored products for interiors to automotive and motorsport (e.g. Formula 1). It has generously agreed to manufacture BHP1's fairing and frame at no cost to us. We are very excited to learn from their insights over the coming months as we work closely with them through the manufacturing process.

IMechE

The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) is an independent association that provides support in the form of training, networking, and awards for mechanical engineers to flourish in their careers. It granted us generous financial support through the Group Project Award from the Educational Awards Committee for the costs of registering for and travelling to the 2024 World Human-Powered Vehicle Championships at Betteshanger Park, Kent, in August.

SILICON | Refractory Anchoring Solutions

SILICON is the leading expert in rapid arc welding and refractory anchors typically used in the petrochemical, cement, steel, power, and incineration industries where resistance to high temperatures is crucial. It is based in the Netherlands. SILICON's financial support enabled us to obtain BHP1's drivetrain components and prototype BHP1's frame for final pre-manufacturing design verifications.

Doodah Records

Doodah is a record label for contemporary Blues music produced by its founder Kevin Brown. Being a velomobile enthusiast, Kevin granted us financial support to obtain BHP1's handling-related components (i.e. wheels, tyres, brakes, and steering handlebar).

Altair

Altair is a design software provider for industrial engineering applications. It provided us with access to all of its software at no cost, and we anticipate using its crash simulation software for our future recumbent bike designs.

GoFundMe

GoFundMe is a crowdfunding platform that allows fundraising for any purpose. Our fundraiser ealier this year (now closed) attracted donations that became helpful for our miscellaneous operational expenses.

Renishaw

Renishaw is a manufacturing technology company specialising in metrology, machine calibration, position and motion control, and additive manufacturing. Its STEM Outreach Team Sponsorship covered the majority of our research and development costs while we were deriving a design for BHP1.

British Human Power Club

The British Human Power Club is the network of recumbent bike builders and riders in the UK as well as the host of the 2024 World Human-Powered Vehicle at Betteshanger Park, Kent, in August. Members in BHPC forums were often friendly and helpful; Special acknowledgements to Russell Bridge and Barney Harle for knowledge, advice, and contacts throughout BHP1's design process.
